We recently bought Pip a yellow raincoat. Now she’s standing up it really isn’t going to be long before she starts walking and when she does, she will need a raincoat. This being Britain, a raincoat is an essential part of one’s summer wardrobe. I’d been after one for her for ages but didnt want to spend a fortune on a raincoat, so when I saw this one the other day, I had to get it.
When I posted a photo on Instagram, I was asked where I’d got it. We bought Pip the top left option, from Tesco which is surprisingly good quality at only £10. If you have a bigger budget however, I also liked the options at JoJo Maman Bebe(£32) (top right) and Petit Bateau (£61-77 depending on size) (bottom left).
I also got Pip a hot pink fleece jacket which is quite thin so fits nicely under the raincoat. The fleece jacket is by no means stylish but it does provide a good mid layer. When I went away recently the one thing I forgot to pack was Pip’s coat. I didn’t want to buy her another coat, so I thought the combination of fleece and raincoat would be a better investment, especially as we plan to take her sailing in my parents boat later in the summer. It was £3 in the H&M sale and once the sleeves have been rolled back to expose her hands properly, she will actually wear it, which is an improvement on her proper coat which she hates wearing as I bought it a size up so it would last all winter. Ha! In reality, she’s hardly worn it so I would have been better buying her one that fitted in the first place and then replaced if necessary. Still, the principle of buying bigger has worked for all her other clothes meaning she’s got a lot more wear out of some of my favourite things.
