nursery projects

See that orange/coral fabric in the middle of that stack? Well, the more floral one of the two is the fabric I bought today to try and make some things for Pip’s nursery. And the internet being the internet, I looked up the name on the selvedge and found that it is by a print designer called Lucie Summers who makes lots of really beautiful interesting fabrics.

I couldn’t find any cot sheets that I liked – everywhere seems to sell blue or pink or beige. Pip’s current ones are coral striped but they were lent to us by a friend who is now pregnant and we need to give them back. And then I thought, why don’t I just get some cotton, hem it and create my own. So I bought some fabric and will report back when I’ve managed to make some. I thought I might make the extra into a cushion for Pip to keep in her bedroom as she gets bigger.

That fabric is lovely, and it’s such a great idea to make your own sheets. I’ve never really thought about patterned cot sheets before, and ours are all boring white ones. Patterned ones sound much nicer!
