Just a moment in June

Just a moment in June

I promised normal service would return soon and I am definitely ready for something a bit more light hearted and ephemeral after the week that we have had (and continue to have). In the decade I’ve been blogging, a little roundup of some of the things I’ve been doing and enjoying over the month is a theme I’ve returned to time and time again, so, in the interests of cosiness and familiarity, this was my month in June (up until the 24th, anyway).

The Little Pip - Cornwall hedgerows

For me, June is about family and flowers and Cornwall. We got engaged on a beach in Cornwall, returned there for our honeymoon a year later and now 7 years on return for our family holidays. I am in love with Cornwall hedgerows and wild flowers and spent many happy moments on holiday last week photographing and foraging and arranging. I have been joining in with the Instagram hashtags #caughtflowerhanded and #stylingtheseasons as well as #floralfridaycompetition and my camera roll is full to bursting of everything from peonies and roses through to hedgerow foxgloves, some of which I’ve managed to share already.

The Little Pip - flowers Cornwall

Aside from obsessing over flowers and spending a lot of time on the beach in Cornwall (more on that obviously in another post) I have been preparing for Pip to finish pre-school and start school, and Little Baby 2 has been busy eating and growing, such that he is now over 8kg… The newborn days are definitely drawing to a close and he is smiling, recognises us and is showing signs of getting on the move.

I also went on an inspiring post natal workshop (again, post to follow) and have started a course with Nurturing Mums which I will share once I’ve completed the other sessions. I’ve definitely been trying to look after myself a lot more this time round, hoping looking after my physical health will assist with preventing a slide in my mental wellbeing. I’ve been doing mum and baby pilates and getting a regular massage from an amazing lady who specialises in pre & post natal bodies and is also a doula. (If you’re local, email me and I’ll pass on the details…)

It’s been all about the breton stripes, boyfriend jeans and waterproofs, along side my new glasses. Cornish casual at it’s best… we managed to actually pack lightly for once, which was all going swimmingly until I discovered the tumble drier was having problems and nothing was drying properly. I’ve been living in these Hush boyfriend jeans (if you fancy them then use SMILE for a 20% discount and find a £10 voucher here) and Petit Bateau striped tops.

My glasses are from the women’s glasses section of Glasses Direct – the ones above are Scout glasses (siren style in blue and sent to me as a review pair) and I loved them so much that I then bought the same pair in sunglasses form and another pair of ordinary tortoiseshell glasses. If you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably seen quite a bit of them. Glasses Direct is excellent by the way – you can upload your face (so to speak) so you can try on the frames virtually, upload your prescription and then they arrive a few days later. There’s £30 off frames at this link too.

I’ve left in these categories from last time but I think the short answer is haha. TV? Now I’ve binged watched The Good Wife just in time to not co-ordinate with series 7 (DON’T TELL ME WHAT HAPPENS!) I’m rather bereft. Martin has been watching The Chef’s Table on Netflix (which I’ve dipped in and out of) and Versailles on the BBC (too much of a period drama for my liking but Martin seems to enjoy it).

This week I’ve been loving Wimbledon mind you, so I guess that counts. Otherwise, I’ve been watching Pip play on the beach mainly.

Cornwall 1 - The Little Pip (1)

I would say see above, but I realise that the news and blog posts totally count, and I do a lot of that on my phone whilst feeding Little Baby 2. I’ve also just received my copy of 91 magazine (which I’ve been carrying around all week waiting to even open…)

Looks like you had a wonderful break in Cornwall! I’m also a huge Glasses Direct fan – love their frames and I’m on the hunt for some larger ones so will definitely take a look at these.

Cornwall was good – too short!

I also have the Scout Festival pair which are big but I love. Might be worth looking at them?

Holiday looked amazing, Cornwall is so gorgeous. The glasses look great on you, I think I need to get my eyes tested, I keep getting headaches and my eyes feel strained. You’ve reminded me to book one! x

Oh what a lovely insight into your life. The holiday looks gorgeous. I must buy some flowers, I’ve been investing in plants this last couple of months, but I miss fresh flowers!

I love that idea of being able to virtually try on glasses – I may have to give that a go.
