I think this might be a perfect last-minute present – retro, so either good for someone who remembers it with nostalgic fondness, or someone who has no idea what it is like to play Sonic the Hedgehog, but all without the games consoles and discs and so on.

Amazon has launched SEGA Classics on Fire TV to celebrate the 30th anniversary of SEGA Mega Drive. They say “with SEGA Classics, Fire TV customers can access a catalogue of classic games without having to purchase a pricey console, buy a controller, or switch HDMI outlets. To play, customers only need their Fire TV remote – or they can pair a compatible Bluetooth controller to their device. SEGA Classics includes 15 multiplayer games, so you can play with your friends and family this holiday season.”

So for £24.99 for the Fire TV stick and £11.99 for the bundle of 25 of the most popular SEGA Mega Drive games, including Sonic the HedgehogGolden Axe, and Streets of Rage, you can have a great present for the whole family to enjoy.

I remember these games fondly from my childhood – we didn’t have a console ourselves but I used to play at friend’s houses – I think it would be such a lovely thing for those lazy days after Christmas to have something like this for us all to play.

What a great idea! I loved these games when I was younger and we have recently bought a Sonic game, but love the idea of getting more this way.
